Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
Spread the bread cubes evenly in the prepared baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Pour the milk mixture over the bread cubes, making sure to cover all the bread.
Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the bread mixture.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread pudding is set.
Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Optional: Serve with whipped cream, caramel sauce, fresh berries, chocolate chips, raisins, or nuts.
