Eggless Chocolate Cake Recipe

Moist, rich, and decadent, this eggless chocolate cake recipe yields the most indulgent slice of pure chocolate heaven.

Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 1 ¾ cups cake flour
  • ½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ cup castor sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

For the icing:

  • ¼ cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 ¾ cups icing sugar sifted

Instructions

For the cake:

  • Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Add vinegar to milk then add in oil and vanilla essence. Add to dry ingredients and beat well with a mixer. Pour into a 20cm greased and lined ring cake pan.
  • Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 30-40 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Remove and cool.

For the icing:

  • Melt the butter with the milk in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove and add vanilla essence, cocoa and icing sugar. Whisk until smooth and pour over cooled cake. Decorate with chocolate curls and serve.
