Beans And Beef Stew

This Bean Stew recipe features soft and creamy beans and tender beef, in a unique peppery onion and tomato-based gravy for a hearty comfort food dinner! (PS: don’t skip the black pepper)

Ingredients

  • 15 ounce can white beans drained and rinsed
  • 2 medium onions finely sliced
  • 1 ½ - 2 pounds beef top blade
  • 2 Tbsp garlic finely chopped
  • 4 allspice berries pimento berries
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 tomatoes grated
  • 1-2 cups water
  • ¾ Tbsp salt to taste
  • 1 Tbsp black pepper freshly ground, to taste
  • 1 tsp hot pepper flakes to taste

Instructions

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add the olive oil and onions, and saute until translucent.
  • Add in the beef, garlic, allspice, and cloves, and simmer for 30-40 minutes until the meat is softened and tender.
  • Add the beans, tomatoes, and water to create a gravy paste.
  • Add the water, season with salt, black pepper, and hot pepper flakes.
  • Simmer for 30-40 minutes, and serve hot over white rice, or with your favorite flatbread.
